Inside the Atelier: A Day with Emerging Designer Lena Voss

We spent a day in Lena Voss's Berlin studio, tracing how raw yarn becomes a runway collection. Her knitwear is a study in tension and texture, and this visit follows her process from material research to final stitch, exploring how she manipulates traditional techniques to create modern silhouettes. We also discuss the challenges of small-batch production and the role of haptic experience in fashion. The result is a rare glimpse into the daily reality of an emerging designer.

Questions About the Magazine

Practical answers about how we work, what we publish, and how you can follow the editorial process behind each issue.

How often do you publish new issues?

We release a new issue every six weeks. Each issue centers on a single theme, such as fabric research, runway analysis, or the psychology of color. Between issues, we publish shorter studio notes and interviews on the site.

Do you accept submissions from emerging designers?

Yes. We feature emerging designers in every issue, usually through studio visits and profile pieces. If you are a designer, stylist, or photographer, send a short introduction and a link to your portfolio. We review every submission and respond within two weeks.

Can I contribute an article or a photo essay?

We welcome pitches that fit our editorial focus: visual storytelling, wardrobe psychology, color theory, and the craft behind contemporary style. Please send a brief outline rather than a finished piece. We prefer original angles and concrete stories over general trend roundups.

How do you choose the designers and studios you cover?

We look for makers with a clear point of view, a strong relationship to material, and a process worth documenting. We are less interested in follower counts and more interested in how a designer thinks about construction, fit, and longevity. Each issue starts with a theme, and we build the lineup around it.

Is the magazine available in print?

Currently we publish digitally. A limited print edition of each issue is planned for later this year, with the first print run tied to our upcoming issue on pattern cutting. Print subscribers will receive the digital edition as well.
